to EMPOWER PEOPLE TO BE WHO THEY ARE
As a young child, I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune condition that results in hair loss. I have lived with Alopecia (and as a bald person) for most of my life, and have learned through my experiences both what it means to be different and how important it is to have people "on your side". I know that when you feel different, you can feel lonely, isolated, depressed, anxious, scared, or angry. But I also know that strong, supportive relationships can soothe these feelings and teach you that what makes you different is exactly what makes you extraordinary.
My goal is to use my personal experiences and extensive psychology training to create a safe, trusting environment - a collaborative and connected relationship - that provides you with the validation and tools you need to tap into your resilience and live more authentically. I believe everyone has something unique about them; qualities that makes them cool, quirky, interesting, and important. Each one of us deserves the opportuniy to learn to love these qualities for how they make us different. Although our experiences and relationships with individuals or institutions may sometimes teach us that we are "less than", my mission is to undo this learning and empower my clients to be who they are, despite what they have been told.
