Institutionalized and systemic marginalization are real factors that impact individuals' self-worth, life satisfaction, and overall well-being.

In my practice, I pay particular attention to issues of diversity (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, mental health, gender identity, social class, immigration) and how social forces can marginalize and oppress minority populations. As is pertinent to my clients' cases, I actively address these issues in treatment and work to empower my clients to identify and challenge the forces that have been oppressing them. With my expertise in this area, I also train students and professionals to effectively work with diversity issues, discrimination, and marginalization in their own clinical work.
